What Causes Dry Eyes?

The simplest explanation for dry eyes is that your eyes are not receiving enough lubrication from your basal tears. Unlike emotional tears which will come out when you are crying, or reflex tears that will come out when the eyes are irritated, basal tears come out of your tear ducts throughout the day to keep your eyes lubricated.

So, if your eyes aren’t getting the correct lubrication, you could be dealing with issues from one of three categories. These categories are:

  • Your tears are poor quality
  • Your eyes aren’t producing enough tears
  • Your tears are evaporating too quick

You will need to consult with us to understand why you are being affected by these issues.
